history

As a result of the Second World War , Catholic refugees and displaced persons from the eastern regions of the German Reich also came to the area around Bodenteich, which has been evangelical since the Reformation , many of them found accommodation in the barracks of a former ammunition plant (MUNA). In 1948 Bodenteich became an outstation ( vicarie ) of the parish of Uelzen and the seat of a priest . In a storage shed on the MUNA site, called “Bodenteich-Heide” from 1949, a chapel named after Boniface and the apartment for the priest were set up. On Christmas Eve 1948, the first service was held in the chapel already, on March 20, 1949 was made its blessing by Bishop Joseph Godehard making . The Federal Border Guard , stationed in Bodenteich from 1951 to 1998 , brought more believers to the chapel and later to the church.

Today's church was built in 1960/61 in Bodenteich (called "Bad Bodenteich" since October 1st, 1998). It was consecrated in July 1961 by Bishop Heinrich Maria Janssen . On January 1, 1963, the establishment of the parish (Kuratiegemeinde) Bodenteich followed, previously Bodenteich belonged to the parish of Uelzen.

Since November 1st, 2006 the church belongs to the parish of the Divine Redeemer in Uelzen.
