St. Cassian is the original St. Cassian dedicated Evangelical - Reformed funeral church in Sils im Domleschg in the canton of Grisons . Formerly also a preaching church , this function was transferred to the village church at the beginning of the 17th century .

History and equipment

The church, which was last renovated in 1923-25, stands apart from the village in the east of Sils. The dating of the original structure is uncertain, certainly medieval .

The church tower adjoining the facade in the west has a tent roof . An even older tower adjoined the nave to the northwest , but is now only recognizable as a wall remnant. The choir is barrel-shaped and expansive, while the nave is flatly covered. The pulpit dates from the time after the Graubünden turmoil in 1650.

Church organization

St. Cassian was one of the first preaching sites in the area of today's Colloquium III Nid dem Wald , where the Reformation took hold.
