The St. Elisabethen Hospital in Loerrach is a hospital in Loerrach in the legal form of a non-profit GmbH. The sole shareholder has been the Kliniken des Landkreis Lörrach GmbH since January 1, 2018 - until that time it was the Order of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Vincent von Paul, based in Freiburg im Breisgau. The house has 239 beds and employs around 600 people. The total turnover is around 35 million euros. Armin Müller has been the managing director since January 1, 2018.

history

In the years 1912/13, the surgical private clinic with 30 beds was built and operated by the Lörrach doctor Arthur Böhler. Sisters of the Order of St. Vincent de Paul, based in Freiburg, took care of the patients . The house served as a military hospital during World War I. The Order of Saint Vincent de Paul finally took over the clinic itself after the First World War. The main building was completed in 1928. In the 1950s, the St. Gabriel House was expanded and a dormitory was built. In 1977 the staff and clinic building followed, and in 1992 the new bed was built.

In 2006, the so-called “Lörracher Weg Part I” resulted in the exchange of specialist departments between the two Lörrach clinics in order to avoid duplicate service provision. The district hospital in Lörrach received the departments of internal medicine and surgery , the St. Elisabethen hospital received the child and adolescent medicine and gynecology and obstetrics . In connection with this, the building of the child and adolescent psychiatry and the additional modular building with the neonatal intensive care unit and the new delivery rooms were completed by 2006.

On September 19, 2010, there was a rampage at the hospital, as a result of which three people died and 18 were injured.

In 2013, due to the bankruptcy of the Rheinfelden women's clinic and the closure of the obstetrics department in Bad Säckingen , the St. Elisabethen Hospital became the sole provider of all gynecological and obstetric services between Freiburg im Breisgau and Waldshut .

Since January 1, 2017, the child and adolescent psychiatric department of the Center for Child and Adolescent Medicine at St. Elisabethen-Krankenhaus Lörrach gGmbH has been running a child psychiatric day clinic in the Waldshut district in Lauchringen .

On January 1, 2018, the previous church sponsor gave the hospital the responsibility of the clinics of the district of Lörrach GmbH. This happened in connection with the planning of a central clinic for the district of Lörrach, which includes the services of all four clinics in the district and is to be opened in 2025.
