Parish Church of St. Florian in Bad Bleiberg

The Catholic Church of St. Florian in Bad Bleiberg , Carinthia , is dedicated to St. Florian . The baroque parish church was probably built around 1663. Major renovations were carried out in 1858/59.

Building

The baroque nave is slightly elevated, parallel to the street with a wide west facade and a gable roof. In the east the choir closes with the tower that stands in the southern corner of the choir. The tower has slits in the wall, two-part, round-arched sound windows and is crowned by a high, bell-shaped dome with pointed gables and lanterns. To the west of the tower is the sacristy . The choir with pointed arched windows is supported by simple buttresses . The nave has simple pointed arch windows and two small windows at the height of the gallery. The gable-like, wide west facade has a round window, above it a niche in which a neighboring baroque saint Florian stands. The canopy with its closed gable stands on two brick pillars. Next to the western arched portal are two rectangular windows. Gravestones from the 18th and 19th centuries are attached to the outer wall.

The second, shortened yoke of the three-and-a-half yoke long house has a needle cap barrel , the other yokes are vaulted with groin . In the organ gallery, which rests on four delicate wooden pillars, there is an organ made around 1860. The drawn-in, drawn-down triumphal arch connects the nave with the choir. A stitch cap vault spans the two-bay choir with a 3/8 end. The round-arched portal on the south wall of the choir leads into the groin-vaulted sacristy .

Facility

The original shape of the main altar was changed during the restoration in 1971/72 and adapted to the side altars. A crucifixion group from the mid-18th century forms the center of the altar . The group is flanked by the Saints Bartholomäus and Laurentius . The statues of Saints Florian and Barbara , which originally belonged to the altar , now stand on consoles next to the altar. The left side altar shows the Annunciation in the middle , surrounded by the carved figures of Saints John the Baptist and Joseph with child. The altar panel of the right side altar shows Christ at the column of torture, next to it are the princes of the apostles Peter and Paul . The pulpit dates from the third quarter of the 18th century. The four evangelists, figures from the beginning of the 18th century, sit at the pulpit. Sitting on the cover are three women, symbols of the Christian virtues of faith, love and hope, with a cross, a burning heart and an anchor. As further console figures in the nave there are St. John Nepomuk and an enthroned Mother of God. Gravestones from 1831 are walled in on the north wall of the nave.
