St. Florian and the Evangelical Church of St. Sophia form an ecumenical church center in the new trade fair town of Riem on the Platz der Menschenrechte in the immediate vicinity of the Riem Arcaden shopping center . On May 4, 2005, the church in the name of the saint was Florian , the patron saint of fire fighters , dedicated . The parish kindergarten opened for the first time three months earlier. Since 2018, St. Florian and St. Peter and Paul in Trudering, as well as their branch church St. Martin, have formed the parish association Vier Heilige Trudering Riem.
The church building, which the Munich architect Florian Nagler designed, is of strict simplicity. The cubic shape suggests a modern "fortress of faith". The bell tower resembles a white column and stands freely on the human rights square. In the north and south, thin slits form a cross. On the west and east side, sound windows for the bell house are let. A dial is attached below each. Five bells were in the 2005 Bell Foundry Rudolf Perner poured in Passau: Florian Bell (F # 1 ), Marie Bell (gis 1 ) Our Father Bell (a 1 ), Peter and Paul bell (h 1 ) and Jubilate Bell (cis 2 ) . The neighboring Protestant congregation and the parish share the bell.
The church interior faces west and is bathed in golden-brown light when the sun shines through the glass window that extends over the entire width. The windows were designed by the Berlin glass painter Hella Santarossa .
