St. Francis ( Lakota : Sápauŋ thí ; House of Catholics ) is a community in Todd County in the US state of South Dakota .

The parish is part of the Rosebud Indian Reservation and the seat of the St. Francis Mission . St. Francis provides a representative for the Rosebud Tribal Council, the government of the reservation. St. Francis was founded in 1886 by Catholic Jesuits who built a school on the reservation. The community is named after Francis of Assisi .

According to a 2010 census, the community had 709 inhabitants, spread over 189 households. 665 (93%) of them were members of the Indian tribes. The mean age of the population was 24 years. 2,224 people lived in the immediate vicinity (ZIP Code 57572) of St. Francis. The median annual income per resident was $ 7,026. 57.1% of the population officially live in poverty.

In St. Francis are the studios of the tribal radio stations KOYA 88.1 Mhz FM and KINI 96.1 Mhz FM.
