St. Johann (Donaueschingen)
The Catholic parish church of St. Johann in Donaueschingen is consecrated to John the Baptist .
history
The building with a double tower facade in the style of the Bohemian Baroque was built from 1724 to 1747 according to a design by the Prague architect Franz Maximilian Kaňka from 1724. The high altar was erected in 1751.
The two towers shape the cityscape of Donaueschingen and are the city's landmarks .
The patronage right of the church lies with the house of the princes von Fürstenberg . The patron saint Heinrich Fürst zu Fürstenberg was actively involved in the renovation of the church from 2007–2009.
On June 11th, 2009, after the complete interior renovation, the ceremonial reopening was celebrated with the consecration of the altar.

The history of the organs goes back to the year 1726 with an instrument that was built in 1581 by the organ builder master Chrysostomus (Breisach). Today's instrument was built in 1963 by the organ construction company Mönch (Überlingen). The slider chests -instrument has 41 registers on three manuals and pedal . The game actions are mechanical, the stop actions are electric.
