The Protestant village church St. Johannis is in the district Trügleben of the rural community Hörsel in the district of Gotha in Thuringia .

history

The church tower with thick walls and the vaulted ceilings were first mentioned as a defensive tower in 1404 . In 1520, with the construction of the church, its function was expanded from a defense tower to a watch tower and church tower.

On the west side of the church is the wooden staircase leading to the upper floor of the church. The choir and pulpit date from the 17th century. Everything was made and decorated in the Renaissance style.

The organ from 1758 was made by organ builder Hofmann from Gotha . Rudolf Böhm from Gotha overtook it in 1934. Defective for a long time, it was reintroduced playable in 2008 for its 250th anniversary.
