St. Josef (Lüsche)
The Roman Catholic Church of St. Josef in Lüsche , Vechta district , was built in 1864/65 according to plans by the Osnabrück cathedral master builder Johann Bernhard Hensen . Since 2008 she has belonged to the parish of St. John Baptist in Bakum .
history
In the Middle Ages, Lüsche belonged to the parish of Vestrup in the Niederstift Münster . After the turmoil of the Reformation , the Catholic Church was restored in Niederstift. In 1588 there was a Marienkapelle in Lüsche. In 1712 only a ruin was left of it.
Today's branch church with the patronage of St. Joseph was consecrated in 1865 . In 1934 the church was expanded to the east, and the original transept was given a twin. The end of the choir with the addition of a sacristy dates from the 1960s.
Of the almost 5,000 parishioners in the parish of St. Johannes Baptist, 814 are Catholics in the Lüsche parish (as of 2016).
Building
The geosteten brick - pilaster church in simple neo-Romanesque forms (today) double transept is pre-sets to the west a square bell tower with spire. In the interior, the architectural structure is marked by subtle coloring. Large parts of the construction equipment have been preserved.
