The Church of St. Josef der Arbeiter is a Roman Catholic parish church in Senden in the Neu-Ulm deanery of the Diocese of Augsburg . It is centrally located in the city center, south of Kirchensteige-Strasse.

History and structure

The church was built between 1958 and 1960 at the request of the Roman Catholic parish with the consent of the city ​​council . It is one of more than forty church buildings that were designed by the Bad Hindelang architect Thomas Wechs . The consecration took place by the Augsburg Bishop Josef Freundorfer on July 23, 1960.

The widely recognizable separate church tower - the tallest structure in the city - is considered a landmark . The bells come from the Passau bell foundry Rudolf Perner . There is a golden cross on the tower . Which are at the four end sides of the tower dials a clock tower mounted. On the outside wall of the church tower you can find the following saying by Freundorfer:

Inside on the choir wall, a bronze cross by the sculptor Max Faller depicts the Transfiguration of the Lord . The wooden sculpture of the church patron St. Josef the worker in the choir was created by Franz Hämmerle in 2002. The wooden ceiling was painted by the Augsburg artist Georg Bernhard. In twelve round colored pictures he depicts scenes from the salvation history of the Old and New Testaments of the Bible . The windows are inlaid in antique glass . In 2013 the church and tower were partially renovated.

The organ was built in 1958 by Orgelbau Sandtner from Dillingen an der Donau , renovated and redesigned in 2016.
