St. Catherine of Siena (Freimann)
The Roman Catholic Church of St. Catherine of Siena in the Pferdgasse 2A in the Freimann district of Munich is dedicated to Catherine of Siena .
history
The construction of an emergency barracks church in 1951 was followed in 1971 by a community center with an integrated multi-purpose church room. Until 2013, pastoral care was in the hands of the Dominican Order , to which Saint Catherine also belonged.
Furnishing
In 1991 today's independent parish church was consecrated. The architect was Hans Maurer . The simple modern furnishings were created by Wilhelm Breitsameter, the stained glass is by Heidi Bayer-Wech. The interior gets its effect from the clinker walls and the bright light falling in the steeply rising chancel.
organ
The organ was originally built in 1957 by Orgelbau Zeilhuber for the Frauenkirche in Munich as a choir organ (Andreas organ). It has 28 stops on two manuals and a pedal . When the organs of the Frauenkirche were rebuilt , the organ was first stored in the Valley Organ Center and then rebuilt here in 1994. The disposition is:

Parish Association
Since 2011, the parish association has included the two parishes of St. Catherine of Siena and To the Holy Fourteen Helpers in Need in Karlsbader Str. 3 and belongs to the dean's office of Munich-Freimann in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising .
