The Roman Catholic branch church St. Kilian is the village church of Kilianshof , a district of Sandberg in the Lower Franconian district of Rhön-Grabfeld . The church is one of the architectural monuments of Sandberg and is registered under the number D-6-73-162-7 in the Bavarian list of monuments . Kilianshof is part of the parish community “Die Walddörfer”.

history

Kilianshof was a branch of Bischofsheim for centuries . In 1932 the village was repared to Sandberg. The nave of the church was built in the second half of the 19th century in neo-Gothic style . The choir was added in the 20th century .

description

The church faces south. The nave with a gable roof has two window axes and a triple window in the north gable wall. A roof turret rises above it . The semicircular choir has two windows. All church windows are ogival . The choir and nave are separated by a pointed choir arch . Both have a wooden ceiling.

Furnishing

In the choir there is a figure of the church patron Kilian and to the left of the choir arch of Our Lady . A harmonium with a manual , a pedal and five registers was on the gallery and was in need of repair. The parish received its first organ with the blessing on July 24, 2018 by the former Würzburg bishop Friedhelm Hofmann . It comes from St. Mary's Church in Maldon in Great Britain and has three registers. It was reconditioned by the Hey organ building company and officially handed over to the congregation with the blessing for the organization of the services. Since 1988, two bells with the tones dis ′ ′ ′ and f sharp ′ ′ have been hanging in the roof turret.
