The Evangelical Lutheran parish church of St. Leonhard is the village church of Sulzdorf an der Lederhecke in the Lower Franconian district of Rhön-Grabfeld . The church is one of the architectural monuments of Sulzdorf an der Lederhecke and is registered in the Bavarian list of monuments under the number D-6-73-172-1 . The parish is part of the parish Sulzdorf an der Lederhecke - Zimmerau in the deanery of Bad Neustadt an der Saale .

history

In 1470 a church of St. Leonhard in Sulzdorf an der Lederhecke is mentioned. When the village was taken over by the Truchseß von Wetzhausen family in 1602, the village was almost entirely Protestant. The oldest part of today's church are the late medieval basements of the church tower, a choir tower . The nave and the upper floors of the church tower were built in the 18th century.

description

The nave has a barrel vault and two window axes. The windows are segment arcs . The choir in the basement of the eastern choir tower has a groin vault . A pointed arch separates the choir and nave . To the south of the church tower with onion dome and lantern is a round stair tower.

Furnishing

The altar in the choir bears a cross depicting the Lamb of God . To the left of the choir arch is the pulpit with figures of the four evangelists . The double gallery occupies the south and west walls. The organ is on its west side .
