St. Lorenz in Schaffhausen

The Protestant parish church of St. Lorenz in Schaffhausen , a district of the Mönchsdeggingen community in the Swabian district of Donau-Ries , was built in the Middle Ages . The church in the walled cemetery is a protected architectural monument .

history

The first mention of a church in Schaffhausen comes from 1328. The right of patronage was transferred this year as a gift from the von Thurneck family to the Zimmer monastery . The square substructure of the tower was probably built around 1300. The nave and the polygonal structure of the tower were built at the end of the 18th century.

architecture

The choir in the basement of the tower has a ribbed vault . The round arched choir arch separates the nave from the choir. The nave with pointed arched windows is covered by a flat ceiling. In the west there is a gallery that can be reached today via a modern staircase . The tower has coupled arched windows on the top square floor . The octagonal structure with arched sound openings is crowned by a pointed eight-sided helmet .
