St. Louis – San Francisco Railway
The St. Louis – San Francisco Railway or St. Louis and San Francisco Railway Company (short: Frisco or SLSF ) was an American railway company with headquarters in St. Louis .
It was founded in 1876 from the remains of the transcontinental rail project Atlantic and Pacific Railroad . The name changed on June 29, 1896, when the company was re-registered in the Missouri State Register after a bankruptcy as the St. Louis and San Francisco Railroad . After another bankruptcy, the SLSF appeared on August 24, 1916 as the St. Louis - San Francisco Railway . The company existed under this name until 1980 when it was taken over by the Burlington Northern Railroad . This has no longer required routes to other companies - u. a. the Arkansas and Missouri Railroad - sold.
The Frisco served the states of Alabama , Arkansas , Florida , Kansas , Mississippi , Missouri, Oklahoma , Tennessee and Texas .
