The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Ludwig in Oberau in the Upper Bavarian district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen is part of the parish of the same name and belongs to the Werdenfels deanery of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising . The church at Kirchweg 6 is located directly on Bundesstraße 23 and is a listed building .

history

The church was built from 1868 to 1873. In 1938 it was redesigned and expanded.

In the 21st century, the base was drained and in this context the air heating from the 1960s was replaced by a modern heating system.

description

The historicist hall church is oriented to the northeast and has an open roof. The tower with a gable roof is connected to the southwest .

organ

The Altmühldorf organ builder Georg Glatzl built a new organ in St. Ludwig in 1957 with 21 stops on two manuals and a pedal . The instrument with cone chest and pneumatic playing and stop action has the following disposition :

Pastoral care

Oberau belonged to the Garmisch parish of St. Martin until it became an independent parish in 1948. In 2013 the Parish Association Partenkirchen-Farchant-Oberau was established together with the parishes of Maria Himmelfahrt Partenkirchen and St. Andreas Farchant .
