The Roman Catholic branch church St. Margareta is located in Egelhofen , a district of Pfaffenhausen in the Unterallgäu district in Bavaria . The church is a listed building.

History and description of the building

The church was originally built in the late 15th century as a late Gothic building. The church was remodeled in the 18th century. The entrance door is marked 1769. The hall with its flat ceiling is followed by the drawn-in three-sided closed choir , which is spanned by a barrel cap . The church tower was built around 1750/1760 and is attributed to Johann Martin Kramer. The church tower is to the east of the somewhat wider apex axis. In the lower area it is square, above there is an octagon with a bell-shaped hood.

Interior

The former high altar sheet of St. Margaret from the mid-19th century was designed by Johann Baptist Dollenbacher . The figure of the Virgin Mary dates from around 1480/1490. The figure of Saint Leonhard around 1500/1510 comes from the circle of Hans Herlin. The figure of Saint Sebastian comes from the first half of the 16th century. The fresco in the nave depicting Saint Margaret on clouds is from the middle of the 18th century. The remaining frescoes were created by Ernst Holzbauer around 1930.
