The Catholic parish church of St. Maria Magdalena is a listed church building in Bösperde , a district of the city of Menden in the Märkisches Kreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ). The community belongs to the Menden-Nord pastoral network in the Archdiocese of Paderborn .

History and architecture

The branch parish was founded on March 1, 1912, an emergency church was built. In 1921, the construction of the church began according to plans by the Paderborn cathedral master builder. The first groundbreaking took place on March 16, the foundation stone was laid on May 22 and the roof was straightened on November 3. The auxiliary bishop Hähling consecrated the church on October 1, 1922. The foundation stone for the tower was laid in 1953, it was completed in 1955. An extensive renovation of the church began in October 2004. The electrical system, the lighting and the heating were renewed. Special emphasis was placed on the interior painting. The bell cage was fundamentally revised and the organ was retuned. The baptismal font was placed in the middle of the church and the high altar was moved forward. This measure created a new room behind the altar in which vestments and liturgical objects are stored. The pews were glazed gray. In 2006 parts of the grouting on the tower came loose. Extensive cleaning work was necessary.

Furnishing

  • The pews were made in 1924 by the art joinery Gödecke from Niederhenneborn.
  • The pulpit is a foundation of the Brunswicker company.
  • The monstrance was also donated by the Brunswicker company.
  • The measuring cup and the ciborium were bought from Cassau in Paderborn.
  • A bronze sculpture of Maria Magdalena was cast in bronze in 2005 after a figure made by Nina Koch in plaster of paris.
  • The four-part cast steel bell sounds in h ° -d'-e'-f sharp ', was hung in 1955 and has a great long-distance effect.
