mode
Initially, all teams played a double round (two home and return legs). There were also two games against the Chinese national team, which served as preparation for the Olympic Games. The two quarter-final losers played off the participants in the relegation in the play-downs.
The play-offs were carried out in the best-of-five mode . There was only one game for third place.
