mode

Initially, all teams played a double round (two home and return legs). There were also two games against the Chinese national team, which served as preparation for the Olympic Games. The games were rated, but the team itself was outside of the rating. The first two teams in the preliminary round qualified directly for the play-off semi-finals, while the other four participants in the quarter-finals played off two other participants in the semi-finals. The two quarter-final losers played off the participants in the relegation in the play-downs.

The play-offs were carried out in the best-of-five mode . There was only one game for third place.
