The 2010/11 season was the 29th edition of the highest Finnish women's ice hockey league , the Naisten SM-sarja . The league is organized by the Finnish ice hockey association Suomen Jääkiekkoliitto . SM is an abbreviation for suomenmestaruus (German: Finnish championship).
mode
Initially, all teams played a simple round with a return leg. The last three teams of this preliminary round took part in the relegation with three representatives from the second highest league. The top six played another easy round among themselves. The two best of the final round reached the semifinals directly, the other four played the other two semifinal places among themselves. The play-offs were carried out in the best-of-five mode . There was only one game for third place.

Preliminary round
The preliminary round was played with all participants in a simple round-trip round. The teams in the first six places qualified for the final round. The last three had to fight to stay in relegation.

In the relegation, the three last placed Naisten SM-sarja competed against the top three from the Divisioona. All three teams of SM-sarja achieved relegation.

Quarter finals
In the quarter-finals on March 8, 10 and 12, 2011, the teams from Tampere and Oulu qualified alongside the teams already seeded .
Semifinals
The semi-final games took place on March 17th, 19th and 20th, 2011. The series ended in both comparisons after three games.
3rd place
Only one game was played for 3rd place on March 26, 2011.

The final series was won by the new champion HPK Hämeenlinna after a sweep in three close games on March 26th, 27th and 29th 2011.
