It belongs to the parish of Münchenbernsdorf in the Gera parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

The small church was built in 1354 in the Gothic style as a chapel , as indicated by the plan of the church, the tabernacle and a niche on the north side. An almost life-size statue in the chancel from around 1580 to 1600, initially regarded as John the Baptist , was only identified as a Christ statue with a candlestick in the hand of Professor Stelljes in 1936. It expresses the word of Jesus "I am the light of the world".

The church, rebuilt in 1850, is a small, preserved building with a romantic organ .

The bells from 1908 had to move into a new building because they were too heavy for the roof turret. Its motto is: Glory to God on high ... and peace on earth!

In 1999 the church was named after the evangelist Mark .
