St. Michael is an Evangelical Lutheran church in the Detmold district of Hiddesen and a member of the Lippe regional church .

History and architecture

Originally, Hiddesen was part of the Martin Luther Church in Detmold . In 1949 the local pastor Erich Eichhorst founded a church building association, which in the same year built a chapel in Hiddesen. On March 17, 1960, the Synod of the Lippe Regional Church decided to found the Evangelical Lutheran parish in Hiddesen, which became independent. In the following year it was decided to build a church according to plans by the Göttingen architect Diez Brandi . Disagreements between the municipality and the architect delayed the project, so that completion took until 1966. The inauguration took place on December 18, 1966, a 4th Advent, with a service after the keystone had been placed after the service on the 2nd Advent. Before that, a cassette with evidence of the time was walled in underneath.

Furnishing

St. Michael organ

The worship room has a pentagonal floor plan with a tent roof . A large stained glass window designed by Gottfried von Stockhausen shows the Archangel Michael . The font was made by the sculptor Karl Ehlers  . The altar cross, ambo and christening lamp were made by Ulrich Henn .

On the south side of the previously around 26 meters high tower is attached, it beat four bells of Friedrich Wilhelm Schilling (percussion sounds dis 1 , F # 1 , gis 1 , ais 1 ). The original plan was to place a large cross in the open area of the tower above the bell chamber. Over time, however, the vibrations of the bells made the four concrete pillars that supported the roof unstable, and so the entire roof had to be removed in 2011.

organ

On May 2nd, 1982 the organ built by the Rudolf von Beckerath Orgelbau company was inaugurated. The organ had 19 stops , divided into 2 manuals and a pedal. In addition to the labial register, each of the three individual works also has a reed part: in the main work there is a trumpet, in the swell a dulcian and in the pedal a bassoon. For the fiftieth anniversary of the parish fair on the 4th Advent 2016, a string register (Salicional) was added in the Schwellwerk so that the organ has 20 registers.
