St. Michael is a listed Roman Catholic parish church at St.-Michaels-Platz 6 in the city of Neutraubling , Regensburg district , Bavaria . The white church is located on the outskirts of the so-called Walhallastraße .

History and architectural style

The church was built from 1953 to 1955 by Josef Pospischil , including the entrance hall of the former commandant building of the Obertraubling military airfield, which was destroyed in World War II (1936–1938), in order to create a Catholic church for the Neutraubling displaced community, which was only founded in 1951 on the airport grounds . On October 16, 1955, Archbishop Dr. Michael Buchberger the new church.

The church is a three-aisled basilica with a double tower facade and a flat gable roof, in a reduced, strict, romanized form.

The organ

The organ was built in 1969 by the organ builder Hirnschrodt from Regensburg . The 23  registers are distributed over two manuals and pedal . In 1999 the organ was rebuilt and re-voiced by Johannes Schädler .

Bells

Distributed across the two bell towers, there are a total of five bells hanging in the two bell chambers. All bells were cast in 1958 by the Perner bell foundry in Passau . The tone sequence is d 'fis' a 'h' d ". They are consecrated from big to small to St. Michael, St. Franziskus, St. Maria, St. Antonius and St. Josef. The big bell weighs approx. 3200 kg.
