Epitaph for Eitelhans von Westernach

The Evangelical Lutheran parish church of St. Nikolaus in Bächingen an der Brenz , a municipality in the district of Dillingen an der Donau in the Bavarian administrative district of Swabia , was originally built in the 15th century. The church is a protected architectural monument .

history

The Reformation was probably introduced in Bächingen around 1576 and the place has remained Protestant to this day. In 1752 a new church was built, which reused parts of the previous church from the 15th century, such as the south nave wall and the south and west walls of the tower.

architecture

The flat-roofed church space has a choir-like , irregularly closed gallery space in the east. On the north side is the octagonal tower, which is crowned by a tent roof.

In the church is the epitaph of Eitelhans von Westernach († 1576) with a full figure in armor and with coat of arms and the epitaph of Margaretha von Westernach († 1553).
