The St. Nicholas Church

The Roman Catholic village church of St. Nikolaus is located in the Böseckendorf district of the Teistungen community in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia . She belongs to the pastoral area of Berlingerode .

history

The church was built from 1713 to 1714 and consecrated by Auxiliary Bishop Christoph Ignatius von Gudenus from Erfurt in October 1735. The patronage was exercised by the Teistungenburg monastery before 1331 and from 1420 to 1810, and by the canons of Quedlinburg from 1331 to 1420 . Accordingly, there must have been a previous church for which nothing has been handed down.

The pastoral care was very different. Once the pastor was there, then from Teistungen, even from Neuendorf and Berlingerode. The church records go back to 1652.

Furnishing

The baroque high altar , created around 1720, shows an oil painting of the Holy Trinity in the altar panel , flanked by the apostles Peter and Paul. The baptismal font in relief dates from 1572. The two choir windows come from the Oidtmann Art Institute in Linnich . They represent St. Joseph and the Virgo immaculata and were incorporated in 1912. The older of the three bells, the Nicholas bell, was cast in 1712, the other two in 1995.
