St. Nicholas in Lengenfeld

St. Nikolaus is the Catholic village church of Lengenfeld in Upper Bavaria . The branch church is assigned to the parish of Stoffen.

description

The church was built in the center of the village around 1755 according to plans by the Munich court mason Lorenz Sappl . When the church was built, the remains of a previous building were used.

Sappl created a small, single-nave building in the Rococo style , the design of which is closely based on the Laurentius Church in Pflugdorf, also designed by Sappl . The nave closes on the eastern side with a choir that closes on three sides towards the outside . The sacristy is attached to it . On the western side, a slightly protruding bell tower with an onion dome dominates the building. The onion dome, originally covered with slate, was replaced by a copper roof in 1962.

Furnishing

In the interior of the church there are three stucco marble altars made by the Landsberg plasterer Nikolaus Schütz . The ceiling frescoes were made by Johann Baptist Baader and depict the church patron Nikolaus von Myra in the choir and the cattle patron Wendelin , who is also venerated in Lengenfeld, in the nave .
