history
Unterauerbach owned a church as early as 1325. In the 15th and 16th centuries there was an early knife in Unterauerbach next to the pastor. Mitterauerbach initially belonged to the Unterauerbach parish, but received its own parish in 1482. The tower of the Nikolauskirche in Unterauerbach collapsed in 1488. Unterauerbach was Protestant from 1556 to 1627. With the Counter Reformation the Auerbachtal got a Catholic pastor again in 1639. At that time Mitterauerbach and Unterauerbach belonged to the parish of Schwarzhofen , with which the Unterauerbach did not agree. They fought vigorously to become an independent parish again, which they finally succeeded in 1744. Despite efforts to the contrary by the pastors of Unterauerbach, Mitter- and Oberauerbach continued to belong to Schwarzhofen.
In the 19th century the church in Unterauerbach had become dilapidated and was replaced in 1902 by the current church, built in neo-Romanesque style. HHE Dünnbier was the architect. The church was opened on July 8, 1920 by the Regensburg Bishop Antonius v. Henle consecrated. Pastor Zormeier finally managed to parish Mitterauerbach into Unterauerbach in 1921.

The side altars represent the Heart of Mary with St. Margaretha and St. Barbara, as well as the Heart of Jesus with St. Michael and St. George.
The former pulpit is now used as an ambo .
The altars, confessional and ambo were created by the sculptor Hans Loibl from Stadtamhof , Regensburg. The crucifix on the north side dates from the 18th century, the Mater dolorosa below it from the 20th century.
