St. Nikolaus von Flüe (Langenbach)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

St. Nikolaus von Flüe is the Roman Catholic parish church of the Langenbach parish in the Langenbach-Oberhummel parish in the Upper Bavarian district of Freising .

Since the parish church of St. Nikolaus von Myra at that time became too small due to the increase in population, it was decided to build a new one not far from the old church. Saint Nicholas of Flüe became the patron saint . Work began in 1970. The foundation stone was laid on April 30, 1971, and the consecration took place on December 12 of the same year. The cube-shaped concrete building stands on the southeast side of a paved square. The steel and glass bell tower, which is detached from the building and was added in 2001, also stands in this square.

The interior of the church is decorated with a depiction of the Way of the Cross by Walter Bertram , a baroque crucifix from South Tyrol and a late Gothic Madonna, which comes from one side altar of the old parish church.
