The church

The Protestant village church of St. Peter and Paul is located in the Großkamsdorf district in Kamsdorf ( Unterwellenborn municipality ) in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

history

Already in 1525 there was a house of worship on the property of today's church . It is certain that in 1640 the villages of Großkamsdorf and Kleinkamsdorf each had their own church, which were looted and destroyed during the Thirty Years' War .

The current church was built in 1789 on a medieval site.

The equipment of the rectangular complex is from the beginning of the 19th century. There is a pulpit altar and a baptismal angel in peasant baroque . The pulpit is located above the altar . There are two late Gothic carved figures on both sides. Peter and Paul from the 14th century.

The organ was made by the organ builder Ladegast from Halle in 1966. It has two manuals , a pedal and approx. 1,600 pipes .

In the church tower hang two bronze bells . They were cast in Rudolstadt in 1794 and in the Metz bell foundry in Karlsruhe in 1997 .

In 1974 the church was renovated and in 2004 the facade.
