St. Peter and Paul (Malá Úpa)
The Catholic Church of St. Peter and Paul in Malá Úpa (German Kleinaupa ), a Czech parish in Okres Trutnov , was built in 1779. The church consecrated to the apostles Peter and Paul is a protected cultural monument . It is the highest church in Bohemia (975 m above sea level ).
A lightning strike on the evening of September 10, 1806 burned down the church. After the reconstruction, services could be celebrated again from October 18, 1807. To mark the 100th anniversary, a memorial plaque with the Austrian imperial eagle and the year 1791 was attached to the triumphal arch .
The last renovation took place in 1986 with financial help from former German residents.
In 1936 the high altar was erected: The main picture shows the church patrons Petrus and Paulus, the left picture shows Saint Theresa and the right picture shows Saint Elisabeth of Thuringia .
The church lost its bells three times: the first time in the fire in 1806, the second time in 1916 the bells had to be handed in for war purposes and a third time in 1943 for the same reason.
An independent parish no longer exists since the German residents were expelled in 1946.
