St. Petri and Pauli (Marlishausen)
The village church of St. Petri and Paul is in the Marlishausen district of the city of Arnstadt in the Ilm district in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish Marlishausen in Kirchenkreis Arnstadt-Ilmenau the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
history
The village church was first mentioned in 1119 . It is a hall church and stands on a hill in the village. Few Romanesque remains have been preserved. Altar shrine , picture panels and other sculptures were added in the Middle Ages .
After the Reformation (1533) the church belonged to Schwarzburg . In the following years the house was rebuilt in baroque style. Gallery paintings were painted in the 17th century. The organ and the pulpit wall were installed in the 18th century. The octagonal hood with lantern and small pointed helmet was built in 1721. The rearrangement and installation of the windows and doors then followed.
The two halves of the winged altar today form the heart of the pulpit wall with two late medieval panel paintings .
Period 1987-2004
During this period the church was renovated. The interior design is based on the altar shrine and both panels on the pulpit wall. The ground floor of the church tower was converted into a baptistery in 1990 .
The baptismal font was moved there.
