The parish church of St. Rupertus is a Roman Catholic church in the Amerang community in the Rosenheim district in Upper Bavaria .

history

The church was first mentioned in 1354 and its construction was completed in 1367. After 1474, a south aisle was added and the nave wall was breached for a Laiminger burial site . In 1506 the church was consecrated again. In the 18th century it was baroque with the removal of the Gothic vault ribs and the addition of a sacristy. In 1866 the tower was given a pointed helmet. In 1958/1959 the church was expanded to the west. A renovation took place from 1985 to 1987.

architecture

The church is a hall building with a needle cap barrel and a side aisle and a slightly indented choir with a three-sided end and a south tower. In the choir is a fresco Baptism of the Bavarian Duke Theodo by St. Rupert (around 1750) with depictions of the prophets of the old covenant and the four Latin doctors of the church. The ceiling paintings in the nave and aisle were made in 1958.

Furnishing

The altars and the pulpit were made around 1750. The high altar picture shows the founding of Altötting through the handing over of the miraculous image by St. Rupert. The Roman martyr saints Sebastian and Florian stand to one side. The extract shows the coronation of Mary. The north side altar bears a figure of Our Lady and shows the death of St. Franz Xaver. The southern side altar bears the figure of St. Barbara from the 2nd half of the 17th century and shows St. Catherine. The pulpit with symbols of the four evangelists was built around 1750/1760. The figure of St. Johann Nepomuk around 1750. In the side aisle there is a life-size crucifix from the beginning of the 16th century. A glazed terracotta plaque shows the donor family kneeling around a cross, marked MK1553 . On the south portal there is a copy of the miraculous image of Maria von Altötting marked 1496 and above it statuettes with the Twelve Apostles around 1740. The Stations of the Cross were made around 1800. The late Gothic octagonal holy water basin made of red marble with the Laiminger coat of arms stands under the gallery. The original version of Christ in rest was created around 1640. In the choir is the former Tumbadeckplatte for Jörg von Laiming († 1476) and his wife, a work by Franz Sickinger , it shows the noble couple kneeling under the bas-relief of the Man of Sorrows . The grave slab of the last Scaliger , Johann Dietrich von der Leiter († 1598), has also been preserved.
