The Catholic Church of St. Salvator in Adelzhausen , a municipality in the Swabian district of Aichach-Friedberg ( Bavaria ), was built in 1671. The pilgrimage church , located in the open field southeast of the town, is a protected architectural monument .

history

In place of the current building, a wayside shrine with a carved image of the Savior stood in the open . The then court lord Johann Franz von Preysing had a chapel built here in 1671 and the pilgrimage picture transferred there. The current building was built in 1730. Changes were probably made around 1736. In 1858 a gallery was installed , which was removed again during the renovation in 1960/61.

architecture

The eight-sided central building, which is visible from afar, is located directly on federal motorway 8 . The building is structured by rectangular panels . The square tower with octagon and onion dome rises on the east side . The interior is flat and has high figure niches between the arched windows. The narrow choir is on the ground floor of the tower .

Furnishing

After burglary and theft, the furnishings from around 1730 with high altar and niche figures are kept elsewhere. The Mater Dolorosa by Johann Caspar Öberl (1730) is secured behind a grid. Today a figure of Christ stands on the stone altar table in front of a wooden cross. Other furnishings include colored carved figures of the four evangelists in wall niches.
