In 1374 a parish was first mentioned in the village . It can be assumed that there was already a house of God by then . The current church was built between 1739 and 1740. Nothing was reported about a previous church.

This church was consecrated by Auxiliary Bishop Christoph Ignatz von Gudenus from Erfurt on October 22, 1739 and Bishop Konrad Martin from Paderborn in June 1868. The pastoral associations of the parishes of Kreuzebra and Geisleden from 1600 to 1680 are reported later . In addition, church registers are kept from 1650 .

Patronage law

The patronage right over the church in Kreuzebra exercised for centuries the provosts of the St. Martin monastery in Heiligenstadt. The last time a pastor was installed in Kreuzebra in 1766 by provost Johann Heinrich von Bessinger. Thereafter, the Archbishops of Mainz immediately exercised provost right over the church. After the death of the last archbishop and the takeover of Eichsfeld by the Kingdom of Prussia , the right of patronage fell to the King of Prussia.
