St. Sigmund (also popularly called Zimat ) is a fraction of the municipality of Kiens in South Tyrol ( Italy ). The village with about 600 inhabitants is located on the valley floor of the Puster Valley on the Rienz, about three kilometers west of the main town of Chienes.
Worth seeing
The Gothic parish church in St. Sigmund houses a winged altar of the Danube School from around 1440. The second Church of Our Lady in Stöckl on the western edge of the village was built in the 17th century.
Population development
The village has had a growing population over the past few decades, which has more than doubled since the beginning of the 20th century.
