The Catholic Church of St. Thomas and St. Stephan is the parish church of Seebruck (municipality Seeon-Seebruck ) in the Upper Bavarian district of Traunstein . Today it is part of the Seeon Parish Association .
history
At the end of the 3rd or 4th century, a Roman fort secured the place and the bridge over the Alz at the outflow from the Chiemsee on the site of today's church . Today's church is late Gothic from 1474 to 1477. The building was made by the master Jörg from Schnaitsee, a document about the new construction of the church has been preserved. Like the whole town, the church belonged to the Frauenchiemsee monastery until secularization in 1803 and was a branch church of the parish of St. Peter zu Gstadt am Chiemsee . After 1803 Seebruck was raised to a (kb) parish. The tower dates from 1842–47.
During the restoration of the tower in 1843, it was found that the church was mostly built from stones from the Roman fort on whose foundations it was built. Part of the foundation walls was exposed outside in the north-west of the church and can be viewed.
