The St. Willibalds Church is a Protestant church in Langenaltheim in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . The choir tower church has the address Kirchengasse 5.
history
The previous church was mentioned for the first time between 1057 and 1075. From 1607 to 1608 the church was completely rebuilt according to plans by Giacomo Righetti . The early baroque church building was damaged in the Thirty Years War . In 1657 the church got a new roof in the form of a Welschen dome . In 1717 the west gallery and in 1732 the south pore were installed. In 1938/39 the south vestibule with a coat of arms of the Pappenheim marshals was added during a renovation . The church tower is octagonal .
The paintings show the Ascension of Christ , Christ on the Mount of Olives (1738) on the pulpit , Christ and the four Evangelists (1608) and Christ and the twelve apostles on the gallery . A new organ was installed in 2000 by the Lutz company from Feuchtwangen, which used the prospectus of the Steinmeier organ from 1756 again. The plaster ceiling is of 1695. In the abandoned churchyard there is a grave monument from 1871. Several grave stones from the 19th century are set in the churchyard wall.
