St. Wolfgang (Sankt Wolfgang, Upper Bavaria)
The Catholic parish church of St. Wolfgang is located in the same municipality in the district of Erding in Upper Bavaria . The church is an important and stately building, which is also called the cathedral in Goldachtal . Their patron is St. Wolfgang of Regensburg .
history
The northern side chapel (Wolfgang Chapel) dates from the beginning of the 15th century, the first building is believed to date back to the 11th century. The main building was built between 1439 and 1477. The chapel was consecrated in 1484. At the beginning of the 16th century it was one of the most important pilgrimage sites in southern Germany.
There was a collegiate monastery here from 1733 to 1803 . The Stiftspropstei (head of the monastery) belonged to the respective provost of the Wittelsbach House-Knight Order of St. George . As the chief clergyman of the noble religious order, this provost held a high position of honor at the electoral court and was infulfilled , that is, he had the honorary right to wear a miter and crook . From 1774 to 1789 this office was held by Joseph Ferdinand Guidobald von Spaur , followed by Count Damian Hugo Philipp von Lehrbach (1738–1815), as the last provost before secularization .
Furnishing
In 1679 the originally Gothic church furnishings were replaced by baroque furnishings. Of particular note are St. Wolfgang, who is flanked by the holy knights Sigismund and Georg on the high altar, the crucifixion altar at the north entrance and above all a wooden sculpture of Anna herself on the right side altar.
The Wolfgang Spring rises under the altar of the chapel, and the paintings on the gallery of the choir indicate its healing power.
