The President of Sierra Leone ( English President of the Republic of Sierra Leone ), according to the Sierra Leone Constitution of 1991, the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Republic of Sierra Leone .

The state president is directly elected by the people for five years and needs 55 percent of the vote. A runoff election between the two best candidates is planned. The winner is whoever can get the most votes. If only one candidate stands for election, he is considered elected without an election. A re-election as President is only permitted once.

- is a sierra-leonian citizen ,
- belongs to a political party ,
- is at least 45 years old and
- meets the requirements for election as a member of parliament.
pension
The pension benefits for a resigned Sierra Leonean President are regulated in The Pensions and Retiring Benefits Presidents and Vice-Presidents Act of 1986 and The States Salaries, Pensions, Gratuities and other Benefits Act of 2003.
A term of office of at least 12 months is required for full entitlements. The president and vice-president are entitled to a monthly pension based on their last base salary. In addition, there is a one-time bonus of 30 percent of the base salary for all years of office. They are also entitled to other benefits such as accommodation and an office.
