The demo recordings have it sent only to some acquaintances. The early official publications the group consisting solely of Split - EPs and compilations were were well developed. The contact to Painiac Records already existed before the first release, the cooperation with the label came about without a previous search for contractual partners. The debut album was released by Aspa, who was criticized for his collaborations with right-wing extremist music groups, on his own label Northern Heritage Records .

style

The music of Stabat Mater is classified as Funeral Doom. Aspa names groups like Unholy , Beherit , the early Cathedral , Skepticism , Goatlord , the early Godflesh and Burzum as important influencing factors for the music of the project. A special feature of the music is the use of samples from tortured women. Otherwise, the music is provided with typical elements of Funeral Doom, such as very slow and at the same time riff-emphasized guitar playing, an equally slow rhythm and very deep growling .
