The Staff Battalion 6 is a high-mountain mobile leadership and support association of the Austrian Armed Forces in the state of Tyrol . The battalion's companies are based in the garrison towns of Kranebitten ( Innsbruck ), Absam and Hochfilzen . In the course of the army reform in 2016 , the 6th staff battalion was dissolved, with the majority of the association being integrated into the newly established 6th hunter battalion of the Tyrolean military command . With the reform of 2019, this was reversed and the battalion was reactivated and reassigned to the 6th Brigade.

The battalion consists of the command, the headquarters company, the command support company, the workshop company, the supply and transport company, which are located in the Standschützen barracks in Innsbruck - Kranebitten , the NBC defense company and the training company in the Andreas Hofer barracks in Absam , as well as the pack animal center with Haflinger horses at the military training area in Hochfilzen .
The NBC defense company has a platoon of KIOP-KPE soldiers who regularly take part in missions abroad. In the training company, prospective officers and NCOs of the Austrian Armed Forces are trained.
