Stacie Anaka (born September 5, 1987 ) is a Canadian wrestler . In 2013 she was runner-up in the world champion in the weight class up to 67 kg.

Career

Stacie Anaka began wrestling as a teenager in 1994 at the Reynolds Wrestling Club Victoria . After studying at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, she became a member of the Burnaby Mountain Wrestling Club . She was trained by Jason Kerluck, Mike Jones and Justin Abdou. As an adult, with a height of 1.68 meters, she wrestles either in the weight class up to 63 kg or in the up to 67 kg body weight.

Stacie Anaka's first successes as a wrestler came in 2005. This year she was Canadian vice-champion in the junior women category in the weight class up to 65 kg. In 2006 and 2007 she won the Canadian Junior Championship in the weight classes up to 67 kg and 63 kg, respectively. In 2007 she also started in the Canadian Women's Championship and took 3rd place in the weight class up to 63 kg. From 2008 to 2013 she competed in the Canadian championship every year and always won medals. She was Canadian champion in 2009 in the weight class up to 63 kg and in 2013 in the weight class up to 67 kg body weight.

Her international career began in 2006. She took part in the Junior World Championship in Guatemala City that year, but only came 7th in the weight category up to 67 kg. She won her first international medal at the 2007 Junior World Championships in Beijing. There she took 3rd place in the weight class up to 63 kg. In 2009 she won her first medal in an international championship for women. At the Pan American Championship in Maracaibo, she took 3rd place in the weight class up to 63 kg behind Elena Piroschkowa , United States and Katherine Vidiaux Lopez, Cuba. She took the same place at the Pan American Championship 2010 in Monterrey / Mexico. Here, too, Elena Piroschkowa and Katherina Vidiaux Lopez placed in front of her.

In 2012 Stacie Anaka tried to qualify for the Olympic Games in London. However, it failed in the Canadian preliminary round to ex-world champion Martine Dugrenier . But she was used in September 2012 at the World Championships in Stathcona County / Canada in the weight class up to 72 kg, but there she lost her first fight against Maria Selmaier from Germany. Since this did not reach the final, she was eliminated and only came in 12th place.

But Stacie Anaka achieved her final breakthrough on the international wrestling mat in 2013. In April of this year she became the Pan-American champion in Panama City in the 67 kg weight class, ahead of Leidy Marcela Izquierda Mendez, Colombia and Julia Salata, United States. In July 2013 she won a bronze medal at the Universiade in Kazan in the same weight class behind Sara Dosho , Japan and Otschirbatyn Nasanburmaa , Mongolia and at the World Championships in September 2013 she defeated Nasanburmaa Ochairbat, Gosal Sutowa , Azerbaijan and Zhou Zhangting, China and scored in Final to Alina Stadnyk-Machynja from Ukraine, against whom she lost just on points. She became runner-up world champion.
