The Stadio Apollonio was an open-air ice hockey stadium in the Italian municipality of Cortina d'Ampezzo .
history
The Stadio Apollonio is named after the brothers Armando and Romano , who were both successful ice hockey players and speed skaters. The ice surface was enlarged from 47 × 85 meters to 85 × 62.5 meters for the 1956 Winter Olympics . Two playing fields with a size of 60 × 30 meters were set up on this area. During the games, the stadium was the venue for three games of the Olympic ice hockey tournament and a training facility for the ice hockey teams. Today there is a tennis facility on the site of the former Stadio Apollonio.
