The city archivolts is the municipal archives of the city of Olten in the Swiss canton of Solothurn . It was founded in 1946, and from 1966 some of its rooms were located in the Olten town hall before moving to the new fire station on Werkhofstrasse in 2002 .

The collection area of ​​the Olten City Archives are files of the city administration as well as documents on the history of the city and the Olten region. The city archives include the estates of Casimir von Arx , Ildefons von Arx , Clara Büttiker , Hugo Dietschi , Martin Disteli , Eduard Fischer-Morgenthaler , Bernhard Hammer , Bonaventur Meyer , Edgar Munzinger , Eduard Munzinger , Josef Munzinger , Karl Munzinger , Ulrich Munzinger , Walther Munzinger , Werner “Pascha” Munzinger , Nik (o) laus Riggenbach and Alexander Schmid as well as the Husi von Wangen bei Olten (from 1595), Munzinger (from 1701) and Oegerli (from 1834) families.

Since 1951 it has published the publications from the city archive ( ISSN  0472-9188 ) at irregular intervals .

The city archive is a member of the Association of Swiss Archivists and is listed in the ISplus collection of information on Swiss memory institutions .
