The Rosenheim parish church of St. Nikolaus is one of St. Catholic Church dedicated to Nicholas . After several years of renovation, it was reopened on December 10, 2006 (according to the plans of Josef Hamberger ) by Archbishop Friedrich Cardinal Wetter . The 65 meter high tower is the landmark of the city of Rosenheim . The church is the home of the Catholic parish St. Nikolaus, Rosenheim. It is located between Ludwigsplatz and Max-Josefs-Platz in the center of the historic old town.

architecture

The nave is a three-aisled hall church and was essentially built in the second half of the 15th century. In 1880/1881 the church was extended in neo-Gothic style by two bays to the east. Since then, it has had a three-sided, single-nave choir with a surrounding sacristy.

On December 10, 2006 the parish church of St. Nicholas was reopened after several years of renovation. The entire interior has now been redesigned, but the new church windows represent the biggest change: instead of old German glass, the windows in the south are now very colorful, the windows in the north are more covered. The new windows were financed entirely through donations.

One of the windows is dedicated to the memory of the Jewish student Elisabeth Block , her family and all the Jewish victims. The penitential prayer of John XXIII is shown on a window that was subsequently designed . To read about the centuries of neglect of the Catholic Church towards the Jews, a tablet informs about the purpose of these two windows.

The sculptor Josef Hamberger created the altar (shell limestone and bronze), font (shell limestone and bronze) and tabernacle (bronze). The new windows were designed by the glass artist Karl-Martin Hartmann in 2004.
