The town law of Butzbach was the particular law that was valid in the town of Butzbach and its district until the end of the 19th century.

history

Emergence

Drawing on older sources, the rulers of Butzbach issued the Butzbach town charter in 1578. The sovereignty was then exercised by several lords ( condominium ). Those were

The lords of the city also acted together when issuing the city charter.

The enacted law existed independently of the sovereignty. It remained in effect after all shares in the condominium had been transferred to the Landgraviate of Hessen-Darmstadt - and in the meantime for a generation to the Landgraviate of Hessen-Butzbach .

Grand Duchy of Hesse

In the 19th century, Butzbach belonged to the Grand Duchy of Hesse , where it was in the province of Upper Hesse . The Butzbacher municipal law retained its validity and throughout the 19th century and was from the same across the whole until 1 January 1900. German Reich applicable Code Civil replaced.

content

The content of the Butzbach city law largely followed - in part literally - the Solms land law . Even the printing of the Butzbach city law of 1578 is closely based on the printing of the Solms land law of 1571. The same applies to the publication waiver. Deviations exist mainly in the area of procedural law , the fee schedule and with regard to the designation of public officials, which is based on differences in the administrative structure between the city of Butzbach and the county of Solms .
