The city administration of Swakopmund is both the name for the building of the town hall ( English City Hall ) as well as for the body of the city council ( English City Council ) of the Namibian municipality Swakopmund . It is also the seat of the mayor and the most important city administration building . It is in the north of Swakopmund-Central .
City council
The city of Swakopmund is led by a city council consisting of 10 council members, including the city council chairman and mayor Juuso Kambueshe . The chairman of the executive committee is currently Eckart Demasius .
building
Until 2012, the Swakopmund city administration was spread over various buildings in Swakopmund-Central, including the old district court . Since this constellation made the daily work of the city administration more difficult, the foundation stone for the new city administration was laid on July 18, 2008. This was built until 2012 east of the central sports field . This New Municipal Office Complex was planned by the architects Mackintosh Lautenbach Architects from Swakopmund in a modern African style in earth colors and built by the LeBau company . The construction cost was approximately N $ 61 million.
The building provides space for all of the city's administrative facilities and was officially inaugurated on November 19, 2010, before completion.
