The Stadtwerke Brixen AG is an infrastructure company in the space Brixen , South Tyrol . It is 100% owned by the municipality of Brixen.

history

In 1903 the company was founded under the name of Städtisches Elektricitätswerk Brixen and electricity production began at the Rundl headquarters . The license deed was approved by the imperial governor's office issued for Tyrol and Vorarlberg on 13 May 1903 in Innsbruck.

In 2002 the municipality of Brixen converted the municipality-owned Stadtwerke Brixen into a stock corporation, the share capital was 100% held by the municipality. However, national legislation requires the municipality to remain its sole shareholder for the next two years.

In 2005 there was a precedent conviction by the Court of Justice of the European Communities because the municipality had violated the conditions for public tenders that also apply to the outsourced stock corporation. Since then, in-house awarding of contracts to privatized service providers is no longer permitted.

On March 1, 2012, Forum Brixen GmbH and Acquarena GmbH were dissolved and incorporated into Stadtwerke Brixen AG as an in-house company of the municipality of Brixen.

Business area

The Stadtwerke Brixen  AG for electricity supply , drinking water , waste water , district heating , methane gas , telecommunications , environmental services and the geographic information system  responsible (GIS) in the area of Bressanone and the surrounding area. The supply area of Stadtwerke Brixen AG extends over the following communities: Brixen , Klausen , Vahrn , Natz-Schabs , Mühlbach , Rodeneck and Franzensfeste .

In addition to the core tasks of infrastructure operation, Stadtwerke Brixen AG is involved in the following companies:

  • Infosyn GmbH 58% - IT service provider, a merger of the IT departments of Stadtwerke Meran AG and Stadtwerke Brixen AG
  • Fernwärme Vahrn-Brixen AG 49% - joint project with the municipality of Vahrn
  • Eco Energia Srl 22%
  • Sarmato Energia SpA 2% - energy supplier in Milan, part of AcegasAps
  • Raiffeisen OnLine GmbH 0.71% - South Tyrolean internet and application service provider

Awards

  • Certification of the quality management system according to ISO 0991: 1994. (1999)
  • Comuni Ricicloni for separate waste collection. (1999- 45.9%, 2000-50%, 2001- 50.5%, 2003- 57.65%, 2006- 63.74%)
  • 1st prize for the best separate paper and cardboard collection in Northern Italy. (2000, 2004 & 2005)
  • 1st Prize Diamond Diamond Award for Energy Efficiency for outstanding services to the country and the environment.

In 2000, the centralized local supply of schools as part of the Europe-wide EU project SAVE - Energy efficiency in schools , was positively assessed as a model case .
