The Standard Chartered Bank Gambia Ltd. is a credit institute in the West African state of Gambia .

The enterprise

The company , managed by Onesimo JS Mukumba and headquartered in the capital Banjul , has been the country's leading and oldest credit institution since 1894 with a market share of 55 percent . It is part or subsidiary of the globally operating Standard Chartered Bank Ltd. based in London, which is also listed in the FTSE 100 . Via Standard Chartered Holdings (Africa) BV , it holds a majority of 74.9 percent in Standard Chartered Bank Gambia Ltd. The remaining 25.1 percent are held by Gambian shareholders.

In addition to the usual banking services for private and business customers, Internet banking is also offered. It is the only bank in Gambia to have its branches in Kombo-St. Mary Area and Banjul equipped with ATMs.

The bank has a branch network that includes five branches: in Banjul , Serekunda , Bakau , Kololi Beach or Senegambia Area and in Basse Santa Su . The company's headquarters in Banjul is on Ecowas Avenue in the neighborhood of the Central Bank .

The Standard Chartered Bank Gambia Ltd. emerged from the Bank of British West Africa , which had had a branch in the former British colony of Gambia since 1894. The former Standard Bank took over the Bank of British West Africa in 1965 , and in 1969 the Standard Bank and Chartered Bank became Standard Chartered Bank Ltd.
