Stanisław Gołąb

Stanisław Gołąb (born July 26, 1902 in Travnik , Bosnia and Herzegovina ; died April 30, 1980 in Cracow ) was a Polish mathematician from the Cracow School of Mathematics . He was mainly interested in affine and differential geometry .

Gołąb studied mathematics at the Jagiellonian University , received his doctorate in 1931 and habilitated there in 1932. He was a professor at the Cracow Mining and Metallurgy Academy and at the Jagiellonian University. On November 6, 1939, he was arrested by Germans as part of the Krakow special campaign and imprisoned in Breslau and in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp until 1940 . After the war he worked again as a professor at the Cracow Mining and Metallurgy Academy.
